Welcome Back to Gateway

School will reopen on MONDAY 8 MARCH

School will reopen to all pupils on MONDAY 8 MARCH. We are very much looking forward to welcoming the children back.

Some of the arrangements for the start and end of the day have changed. To help you understand the changes and how we plan to keep everyone safe, we have updated the Return to School Guidance. Please click here to read it.

All adults MUST wear a facemask when entering school premises.

The start of the school day

School will start at the usual time – 8:55 for everyone.

Nursery and Reception families will enter via the vehicle gate on Lisson Grove then queue at either the nursery outside area or Reception outside area.

The rest of the school will enter the site via the Capland Street Gates.

Children in Year 1 and Year 2 must follow the one-way system into the playground. Parents can walk children to their line in the playground but must ‘drop and go’. Please do not wait at the gates or in the playground.

Children in Year 3 and Year 4 can go directly to class via the gate to the quiet garden. The teachers will be on hand to direct the children to class. Parents must leave their children at the gate.

Children in Year 5 and Year 6 can go directly to class via the main doors to the school. The teachers will be on hand to direct the children to class. Parents must leave their children at the gate.

The end of the school day

Children in Nursery and Reception will be collected from their outside areas. Nursery children finish at 3:10pm and Reception children finish at 3:20pm.

Children in Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 will finish school at 3:00pm.

Children in Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 will finish school at 3:20pm.

Children in years 1 to 6 should be collected from the playground. Parents enter via the Capland Street gates, follow the one-way system around the playground to collect their children and then leave the school. Please do not gather or wait in the playground for older siblings.

If you have children in different year groups, who have different end times, please collect at 3:20pm and your younger children will remain with their teachers until you arrive.

It is very important your child brings his/her Chromebook and charger in with them on Monday morning.

Secondary Transfer - National Offer Day

Next steps

Yesterday, Monday 1 March, was National Offer Day for secondary school places.

Year 6 parents who applied for a place online can view their result this evening by logging into their account. Parents who applied on paper will receive notification in the post later this week.

We hope you will be happy with the school place you have been offered.

By Monday 15 March, you will need to either accept or decline the offer made to you.  At this stage, we would advise you to accept the offer made in order to secure your child a school place.

If you are unhappy with the place that has been offered to your child, please be assured that there is usually some movement with regards to waiting lists between now and the start of the new school year in September.

Should you wish your child to be placed on a waiting list for an alternative school, where the local authority holds the waiting list, positions will be available from 26 March.

If you are a Westminster resident and have any queries relating to the offer made, advice is available from the Admissions Team.  Please call 0207 745 6432/6433.  These lines will be extremely busy so please do be patient. Alternatively, you can email schooladmissions@westminster.gov.uk.

We will update the Secondary Transfer page accessed via the School Life tab on our website with the LA guidance documents.

We are still here to help though.  Ms Cole, our year 6 leader, and the Deputy Headteachers will also be very happy to assist you.  Please either email or phone the Academy and someone will call you back.

Chromebooks

 Support with Chromebooks

If your child is having trouble accessing remote learning via their Chromebook, please email itsupport@gsuite.gateway-academy.co.uk and a member of the Gateway team will be in contact to help. We have made videos and ‘help guides’ based on the common problems that children have. These can be accessed via the Online Learning Tab - Home Learning Help for Parents.
